Admittedly, we are probably crazy.
We started 2026 by launching Lights Up and applying for a license to produce The Fantasticks.
All at the same time.
We wanted to do something positive for Seattle – something loving, something sweet. Something that reminds us – in a very chaotic time in our history -- that there is a lot more in the world which connects us than divides us.
How better to do that than with a play like this one? And where better than in Pioneer Square, the city’s oldest neighborhood, which has struggled since the pandemic to reclaim its mantle as Seattle’s soul?
We could cheer people up and help revitalize Pioneer Square at the same time.
We have charged forward with great energy and little dough - and accomplished a great deal in the past few months.
We have our company.
We have Shunpike (our tax umbrella).
We have our wonderful, historic theatre which was recently resuscitated after more than forty years dormant.
We have a fabulous cast and production team.
And now we need YOU.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
YES! You will make your donation to us via Shunpike, our tax umbrella. Shunpike just celebrated its 25th anniversary of supporting Washington state arts organizations. If you have been in downtown Seattle since the pandemic, you may have noticed that some vacant storefronts have been transformed into pop-up art exhibits. Those are sponsored by Shunpike, too.

Straight into the show. Lights Up Productions is a brand new independent theater company with no institution behind us, no endowment, no building with our name on it. Just a small, passionate team putting everything into making this production as fabulous as it can possibly be.
Your donation covers the real costs of making live theater happen: licensing the rights to perform The Fantasticks, paying our musicians and crew, building and lighting the stage, costuming the cast, and getting the word out so we can fill every seat on every night.
We're also committed to paying the people who make this work — because artists deserve to be paid. Every dollar that comes in goes directly toward making that possible.

Absolutely! E-mail us and we’ll talk.
Right now, our volunteer wish list includes:
Fantasticks emissaries to spread the word about the play in some key locations, especially around Pioneer Square
People to help spread the word for our August 2 Community Kickoff event.
